Took the bike for a spin on my day off. It is no longer running. Sitting in a medical center waiting for a ride. AMA
Just to clarify, I didn’t crash. Just waited in the medical center because water and wifi.
Update: Got my ride and my truck. Bike fired up and would idle. Debris settled in the tank? The plot thickens .

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

How are you currently affiliated with said medical center? Hopefully you are not a customer...

What did it do right before it stopped working?

I didn’t know medical centers also repair bikes.
Hope you doing OK.

My first thought was, “oh, his bicycle broke, maybe I can help with that”, and then I realized.
Sorry.

oh jesus. hope you make a speedy recovery and the bike isnt too badly fucked.

It’sa fuel issue. Wouldn’t even jump when in gear. Had a weird far tingish noise when coasting. Think the filter is clogged. Dies at low rpm. Okay at high. No response when be the throttle in neutral.

i mean...he crashed.....

No. Just don't want to wait in the sun.

Died in neutral. Had a word exhaust farting noise on overrun.

I didn't crash.

Didn’t crash. Just the closest commercial place to wait.

Is this particular two wheeler carbureted? A clogged jet would definitely do that.
Edit: Nope, it’s a pretty Triumh that looks efi. Damn, I’ve never had a filter so bad that it prevented starting.

This is what happens when you don’t buy me a plane ticket and get a bike for me :p

I thought your post was a cryptic way of saying you crashed.
Sorry your bike is sick and not siqqq .

okay, the way its worded sounds like you did.
I would check battery connections, and check that stator and rectifier are good. I’m putting a volt meter on mine before I take it out in the earnest

I sent a paper airplane.

I could see that. Nope. Kept the good side up.
F ired up when I came back with the truck. The plot thickens.

Diagnosis: It’s a triumph and that just be how they are.
(I am trying to get my trophy to start. It decided to eat two batteries instead. We’re currently having an argument)

That’s a good blue.
![]() 03/26/2019 at 16:34 |

I have a theory but it is a long shot. It may have been a vapour issue. The bike was way hotter than it should have been. Possibly cutting fuel to save itself.
Check the stator and regulator/rectifier. I ate a battery working through a stator issue.

Yeah, I really like it.
![]() 03/26/2019 at 16:45 |

That was my first choice, but then I started liking Cement, and my wife preferred the gray out of the two . As much as I like the blue, part of my drive is gravel, and I would’ve gone crazy trying to keep it clean.
We may have had this discussion already... =)

oh no. I hope this doesnt set the tone for the triumphs here this year. a fair number of us have them now. You, me, decay, someone else in the FB group just picked up a 765RS....

What year is it? 06-08 had regulator/rectifier issues. I have extensive experience with the Daytona but hard for me to help from here.
Noticed your other comments about fuel. I doubt thats the issue. The no throttle in nuetral makes me think you should check the throttle position sensor/calibration. Can be a bitch to deal with on the earlier bikes but TUNEecu should work.

Possibly. When I ordered mine, I had strict orders against white, black, or g ray. Thought about the orange but blue isn't quite as polarising.

Meh. It's not trouble free but they are generally reliable. I have a theory. Hopefully gets all fixed up with a complete fluid swap and injector cleaner. I hope it's that simple. It started up when I came back with my truck

Mines an ‘09. Went through a stator last year and the CPS the year prior. The weird part is, when I picked it up, it started and ran fine. Likewise when I unloaded it, I went around the block and it rode fine. I could blip the throttle on a downshift and would rev normally in neutral sitting in the driveway. Pulled hard.
My thought is fresh gas stirred up something in the tank and it plugged the filter, it settled while the bike sat.
The bike was hotter than it should have been when it stopped running. My thought is that the motor cut timing or fuel as a self preservation mode, but that still is suspect. I’ve seen the bike idle and run fine in 90 degree traffic when the temp is almost pegged.

Its not temp. Ive cooked a radiator at the track multiple times on a 100 degree day. If it works, just run it till it misbehaves and report back.

Know of any good way to get rid of corrosion built up in the block? I’ve read about white vinegar and distilled water buy I want something a bit more ag gressive for my next flush.
![]() 03/27/2019 at 13:03 |
|
As in the coolant system or the oil system? For the coolant system ive never had corrosion issues. Abeit i dont run water.
![]() 03/27/2019 at 15:15 |

Coolant. I run water wetter but it always seems to come out brown. I’m thinking the steel fittings to the block are rusting.

Hmmm. Ok. I run Engine Ice. The stuff sounds like a ripoff but the shit seriously works. I saw my coolant temps drop 20 degrees. Everyone i know at thw racetrack runs it.
Make sure if you are using a water based coolant you start with distilled water.
